Franco Anderson is an IT Business Analyst at Shoprite with three months of business analysis experience. Being new to the role, Franco was keen to learn as much as possible about business analysis and to improve himself so that he could stay on top of his career. By completing the Business Change Academy Foundation in Business Analysis course, he learnt which analysis technique to use, when to use it and how to best use it during the different stages of the business analysis process.
Furthering Franco's understanding of business analysis
Franco Anderson is an IT Business Analyst with three months of business analysis experience. He works for Shoprite in the Retail and FCMG sector in Cape Town, South Africa. As he took the role, Franco was eager to further his understanding of the fast-paced world of business analysis and to stay on top of his game by improving his skillset and the quality of work expected from him.

Franco completed his postgraduate degree at Stellenbosch University, where he found a true liking for business analysis. It is his first business analyst role, and he enjoys the nature and variety of his day-to-day work. Whilst he is always in a hurry to learn as much as possible, he felt he needed to take a step back not to overwhelm himself.
Having recently started his role, Franco needed to know what was expected of him and how to do his work. He wanted to learn approaches to help him avoid feeling overwhelmed, feeling like he’d taken on too much too soon as a business analyst. Importantly, to stay on top of his career, he sought techniques (intellectually and practically) that he could use to complete his deliverable effectively and efficiently.
Knowing which business analysis technique to use
To make sense of what his job required and how to do his work best, Franco appreciated the need to learn the high-level approach and fundamental techniques that guide and underpin the business analyst role. BCA’s Foundation in Business Analysis course hit the spot. Through the course's broad framework, he grasped which analysis technique to use and when and how to use it during the different project stages.
“Knowing which business analysis tool to use during which phase of a project has been a real challenge. The combination of modules and exercises covered during the training helped me see how business processes and data modelling play a much bigger role in business analysis than I initially thought,” said Franco.
