Taking many years of solid business analyst experience to the next level
Faiek is an accountant by training, (FSB (FSCA). Having passed two modules previously — Business Analysis Practice and Modelling Business Processes — Faiek was back with us to complete his final two qualifying courses towards the International Diploma in Business Analysis.
"I’m excited to be back at the Academy and take these next steps towards my Diploma. And to keep-on upskilling and soak-up insights that shift what I can do in the business analysis space."
For this next shift, Faiek set himself two key objectives:
THE SOLUTION
Cementing the breadth, depth, and strength of business analysis into daily habits
At the heart of the Bootcamp is a personal journey, and Faiek settled on consolidating the end-to-end possibilities of the role with the Foundation in Business Analysis and then getting stuck into the nitty-gritty detail of Requirements Engineering.
"If my experience has taught me anything it’s that there is no cookie-cutter approach to business analysis, and the freedom of this programme allowed me to choose my own path – one that meets me where I am at."
A big take-away for Faiek was the requirements catalogue, which now threads through everything he does — “I use it (almost) daily to stay focused” — as it supports him in evolving requirements from concept all the way through to resolution.
The Result
A refined set of business analysis skills with the polish to put them to work
Now set with a range of go-to techniques that add polish to his style, Faiek’s producing better quality and more concise deliverables from his analysis work while consulting across the business analyst spectrum from strategy through to benefits.
“Being a ‘technique-driven’ business analyst, rather than being driven (mad) by templates, means I’m ready to tackle anything.”
With the blueprint for technique-driven analysis firmly ingrained in Faieks’ habits, he says he’s discovered that he’s able to adapt to every situation no matter the project’s approach, roles, and deliverables – “I can change tack, no matter the context”.
The Word
The training is not just valuable, it’s essential for those practicing in the business analysis field.
While working towards his International Diploma in Business Analysis, Faiek Sonday set himself the goal to adapt and polish his approach to business analysis.
“Not only have Business Change Academy given the vision of what business analysis can be, but they’ve also geared me up a full range of practical tools and techniques to go live it.”
